The Alamance Fabric

A local news outlet for Alamance County

The Alamance Fabric tells the stories that help residents understand their community and the issues shaping its future.

Local news helps people feel connected to and proud of their local community. A robust local news environment, one with multiple credible and trusted outlets for people to choose from, is an important indicator of community health.

As Impact Alamance explored opportunities to strengthen community well-being, local news emerged as an area of concern. Through conversations with community members across the county, we learned about the frustration people feel when trying to find out what’s going on locally. Those sentiments were reinforced by a formal feasibility study conducted in 2024.

In response to the aspirations and needs shared by our community, in November 2025 Impact Alamance awarded a $125,000 grant to NC Local, a statewide nonprofit, nonpartisan online news organization. NC Local used this grant money to launch a locally focused news outlet called The Alamance Fabric, that shares the stories that matter most to people in our community.

The Alamance Fabric complements the local news outlets already serving Alamance County by providing in-depth coverage of issues that matter to residents, from local events and culture or county-wide developments. The weekly publication also delivers regional and state news from NC Local and other partner publications.
