Health Is Shaped by More than Health Care

Impact Alamance was formed through the merger of two health systems. At the heart of our work is a commitment to fostering healthy communities, families, and individuals.

Medical care is an important part of health, but it’s not the only factor.

Economic stability, education, access to care, neighborhood conditions, and social connection all shape how long and how well people live. These factors can be just as important to health as a doctor’s visit or prescription.

Consider the difference between neighborhoods: some have sidewalks, fresh food, parks, and playgrounds close by, while others lack these basic resources.

That’s why we work closely with local government, schools, nonprofits, healthcare providers, and residents to strengthen the grid of community resources and advocate for policies that support health. Our goal is to help ensure that everyone has access to healthy activities, nourishing food, meaningful social connection, and other resources that influence health and well-being.

Healthier Initiatives

Alamance Wellness Collaborative

The Alamance Wellness Collaborative brings together representatives from municipalities and organizations across Alamance County to advance active living, healthy eating, social connection, and policies and environments that support community health. Through collaboration, the initiative takes a shared, countywide approach to improving health and well-being for all.

Active Alamance

Active Alamance is a free mobile app that makes it easier to discover and enjoy parks, trails, sports, events, and recreation opportunities across Alamance County – all in one place. Through a countywide collaboration, the app connects residents and visitors to resources that support active living, health, and community connection.

Healthy Spaces and Places

Since its founding, Impact Alamance has invested millions of dollars to enhance and build public places that encourage accessible, healthy activity, and community connection. These include trails and greenways, parks, playgrounds, the Splash Park at City Park, and more.
