In November 2025, Impact Alamance’s Board of Directors approved $50,000 in funding to support the Alamance-Burlington School System’s (ABSS) Strategic Plan Update and Community Engagement Process. This investment enabled ABSS to engage Education Elements—a nationally recognized consulting firm known for its expertise in strategic planning for public school districts—to guide the development of a refreshed, community-driven strategic plan.
Impact Alamance’s support reflects its continued commitment to strengthening education systems and opportunities across Alamance County. Over the past decade Impact Alamance has partnered with the school system and other education stakeholders on a number of initiatives aimed at improving student success, creating strong school communities, and building a smarter, healthier, and stronger Alamance County. The ABSS Strategic Plan Update builds on this work by equipping the district with a modernized framework that reflects both current needs and long-term aspirations.
Through this initiative, ABSS will revise its district-wide strategic plan to ensure it aligns with the voices and priorities of the community it serves. The updated plan will outline a clear and measurable roadmap for improving student outcomes, guiding resource allocation, and ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the system. The process will not only identify challenges and gaps, but also highlight strengths, opportunities, and the shared aspirations of students, families, educators, and local partners.
A central component of the initiative is an extensive community engagement strategy, which Education Elements will design and implement in collaboration with ABSS. Through community input sessions, surveys, and other engagement methods, students, staff, families, civic leaders, business partners, and community organizations will have the opportunity to share their experiences and ideas. This approach ensures the final plan is grounded in lived experience, reflects real community needs, and strengthens trust between the district and the broader public.
Several engagement activities are already underway. Most recently, ABSS has been gathering public feedback related to district rezoning, and these conversations are helping inform decision-making and build greater understanding around long-term planning needs.
As the strategic planning process moves forward, ABSS will continue to expand opportunities for community involvement, ensuring that every voice has the chance to shape the district’s path forward.
