IMPACT ALAMANCE AWARDS $150,000 TO AREA NONPROFITS THROUGH PROGRESS AND ENHANCEMENT GRANTS

Burlington, N.C., May 27, 2024 – Impact Alamance is dedicated to creating a caring and connected community where everyone thrives. In pursuit of this vision, Impact Alamance has announced the awarding of eight grants totaling $150,000 to support its mission. These grants are aimed at strengthening nonprofit services, fostering resource connectivity, and amplifying community voices. 

“We are honored to partner with our nonprofit organizations to enhance the great work they are doing for our community,” said Marcy Green, Impact Alamance’s Vice President of Programs.

The following investments were approved by the Impact Alamance Board of Directors on May 23, 2024. 

Progress and Enhancement Grants: 

Sustainable Alamance – $8,000

Family and Community Economic Center

This will fund the HVAC and electrical installation to upfit several classrooms to bring added resources such as (but not limited to) High School Equivalency, job skill development, financial literacy, and intro to entrepreneurship to reentry participants and family members. 

Young Musicians of Alamance County – $20,000

Instrumental Enrichment for Students in Diverse Music Education

Funding will be used to purchase 31 string and percussion instruments and their accessories. 

Women’s Resource Center – $15,000

WRC Technology Update 

Grant dollars will go towards laptops, docking stations, monitors, upgraded telecom lines, and wiring to upgrade WRC staff technology to increase efficiency of services. 

Benevolence Farm – $25,000

Safety, Accessibility and Energy Efficiency Upgrades for Residential Reentry Programming 

To improve residents’ quality of life, safety, and functionality of the home, funds will be used  for bathroom renovations, floor repairs, and technology and appliance upgrades.

Life Changing Outreach Ministries – $10,000

Empowering Families to Succeed

Funding will be used to purchase laptops, desktops, and software to provide access to technology and increase digital literacy by offering basic and advanced computer skills classes.

First Presbyterian Church Child Development Center – $25,000

Child Development Center, Expansion and Access Project

Grant dollars will allow the Center to open four new classrooms equipped with developmentally appropriate materials and resources tailored for infants and toddlers.

Alamance Community College – $40,000

Dillingham Student Center, Student Support Services Expansion

This will fund equipment such as laptops, furniture, shelving, and signage to create a student support services “one-stop-shop” at the Dillingham Center. 

Becoming Grace – $7,000

Outdoor Learning Experience

Funding will be used to purchase outdoor play and environment equipment.
