What We Heard: Highlights from Our Recent Partner Perception Survey

At Impact Alamance, we know accountability and transparency are essential to strong community partnerships. Earlier this year, we invited grantees, partners, and community collaborators to share feedback through our latest perception survey to help us better understand our impact, strengthen our work, and identify opportunities for growth.

The survey gathered feedback on our funding impact, communication practices, community engagement, and overall partnership experience. Respondents represented nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and other community partners, many of whom have engaged with Impact Alamance through grants, sponsorships, trainings, leadership programs, and capacity-building support.

What We’re Doing Well

Survey respondents consistently highlighted several strengths in Impact Alamance’s work, including:

  • Deep and inclusive community engagement that reaches beyond the “usual suspects” and centers underserved and underrepresented residents
  • Strong communication and relationship-building, including site visits, follow-up conversations, videos, phone calls, and other relational approaches
  • Trusted convening and collaboration, bringing together nonprofits, government agencies, and residents for meaningful dialogue and shared learning
  • Hands-on grantmaking and capacity building that supports both immediate community needs and long-term organizational growth
  • A strategic focus on health, education, and prosperity grounded in the real conditions affecting Alamance County residents

One respondent described Impact Alamance as a:

“Trusted convener. Clear communicator. Community-driven partner for hope, health and prosperity.”

The survey also reinforced the importance of communication and connection-building in strengthening civic culture across Alamance County. Nearly all respondents (97%) shared that Impact Alamance’s communications help them take action, make decisions, or align their work with others to some extent.

Where We Can Improve

Respondents also provided thoughtful feedback about areas where Impact Alamance can continue to grow, including:

  • Increasing accessibility and flexibility around engagement opportunities and convening times
  • Providing greater transparency and predictability in grant processes and funding decisions
  • Offering more feedback to applicants whose proposals are not funded
  • Expanding access to grant opportunities and flexible operational funding

Notably, 41% of respondents shared that they had no suggested improvements and encouraged Impact Alamance to continue expanding its work across the county.

As one participant shared:

“I hope that it can continue to assist the community and expand its services to all areas.”

We are grateful to everyone who took the time to provide thoughtful feedback. These insights will help guide our strategic planning and ensure we continue evolving in ways that strengthen our partnerships and deepen our impact across Alamance County.
