Impact Alamance has committed $125,000 to fuel creativity and innovation across the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) through Teacher Leadership Academy (TLA) Creativity Grants.
These grants support current TLA participants in their pursuit of innovative, school-based projects designed to improve student and school performance. These eight projects demonstrate creative instruction, collaborative partnerships, and measurable outcomes aligning with their respective school improvement goals.
To advance student success and transform learning environments, Impact Alamance is providing funding to these dedicated teacher leaders:
Sara Mason, Eastern Alamance High School – The Eagle’s Perch
Revitalize the media center to create an inclusive, flexible, and collaborative learning space for all students.
Amount: $20,000
Stephanie Ector, Elon Elementary School – Fun Without the Sun
Install a 20×30-foot sunshade over one of the playgrounds to provide students with a safe and comfortable area for outdoor play and learning.

Shavon Via, E.M. Holt Elementary – Project-Based Learning with Agriculture Education
Create an interactive outdoor agricultural learning space featuring raised garden beds, an outdoor kitchen, and a solar-powered greenhouse.

Jennifer Payne, Hawfields Middle School – Upgrading Our Media Center for Innovation
Transform an outdated library, originally designed in 2000, into a modern, flexible, and technology-driven learning environment.

Sara Realini, Haw River Elementary – Strengthening Student Focus and Achievement through Behavioral and Sensory Supports
Address rising behavioral and attention-related challenges by funding sensory tools, calm-down room equipment, and classroom supports to help students self-regulate, maintain focus, and stay engaged in learning.

Shara “Bre” Shipmon, Hillcrest Elementary – The Hornet’s Nest
Create a multifunctional student success space featuring a Leadership Hub, club area, and PBIS support center to strengthen student voice, positive behavior, and school culture.

Marica Parker, South Mebane Elementary – Sensory Room
Create a dedicated space to help K–5 students regulate their emotions and sensory needs, promoting focus, self-control, and readiness to learn.

Mary Moorhouse, Ray Street Academy – The Ray Street Academy Historical Museum and Library
Develop an in-house exhibit and learning space in partnership with the African American Cultural Arts and History Center, featuring on-site and mobile displays to share the history and legacy of this significant landmark with the broader community.
