Impact Alamance Invests More Than $82,000 in Teacher-Led Projects through Teacher Creativity Grants

Impact Alamance is proud to invest $82,855 in local public school teachers across the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) through our Teacher Leadership Academy (TLA) Creativity Grants. 

Approved by Impact Alamance’s Board of Directors in May, these grant funds further our commitment to promoting creativity and innovation in our public schools. Grant funding has been allocated to current TLA participants to execute projects that enhance student outcomes through engaging learning experiences and opportunities. 

From academic initiatives in science and literacy to projects that promote family engagement, student leadership, and inclusive play, the six projects listed below demonstrate high-impact instructional practices that will directly benefit hundreds of students across Alamance County. 

Andrews Elementary School – Sparking Discovery: A Modern Library for Andrews Elementary Students

Ashley Cook received funding to transform the school library into a modern learning hub featuring updated books and flexible workspaces that foster literacy, critical thinking, and student engagement.

Amount: $15,000

Elon Elementary School – Mobilizing Food for Thought

Brandy Jo Brehm received funding to implement a mobile kitchen program that provides hands-on, real-world learning experiences while encouraging student engagement, collaboration, and critical thinking across subject areas.

Amount: $8,150

EM Yoder Elementary School – Igniting Inquiry: Bringing Hands-On Science to Every Student

Lacey Karboski received funding to create a Science Resource Hub equipped with hands-on instructional materials that promote active learning, critical thinking, and student engagement in science across all grade levels.

Amount: $10,705

Highland Elementary School – The Inclusive Playground Initiative

Rachael Fowler received funding to enhance the outdoor play environment with inclusive sensory equipment, accessible pathways, and a dedicated basketball court to provide safe, engaging, and accessible play opportunities for all students.

Amount: $19,000

Hillcrest Elementary School – The Hornet Hive Initiative

Ashley West received funding to increase student engagement, leadership, and family involvement through interactive displays, student-led media, family events, and school beautification projects connected to the Hornet Hub.

Amount: $10,000

Southern Middle School – Transforming Our Library to Increase Literacy and Engagement

April Ferguson received funding to revitalize the middle school library with updated furniture and high-interest books, creating a welcoming space that supports student engagement, collaboration, and literacy growth.

Amount: $20,000
