BURLINGTON, N.C., JUNE 14, 2022 – As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthen the county’s grid of resources, Impact Alamance awarded $150,000 into local nonprofit organizations through the Progress and Enhancement Fund, formerly known as the Community Health Fund. A total of seven community agencies were funded. “Impact Alamance is committed to serving our community through investments that will uplift our local nonprofits to help them create a healthier, smarter and stronger way forward for all people in Alamance County. We are proud to support the efforts of these organizations,” says Marcy Green, Impact Alamance Vice President of Programs.
The competitive grant cycle is offered to Alamance County nonprofits each year. The Community Health Fund was renamed at the start of 2022 to Progress and Enhancement Fund. The name change of the grant cycle helps more accurately reflect the types of projects that are being funded. These grants fund equipment needs of nonprofit organizations to further enhance and expand their services in the community. Applications are reviewed by the Community Grant Advisory Committee, made up of leaders throughout the county that make funding recommendations to the Impact Alamance Board.
The following investments were approved by the Impact Alamance Board of Directors on June 9, 2022.
Alamance Meals on Wheels – $34,000
Meals on Wheels Renovation
Funds will be used to provide new kitchen cabinets and kitchen appliances for the organization’s building.
Becoming Grace – $30,000
Empowerment and Enrichment Summer Camp 2022
Funding will help purchase computer and audio-visual equipment for digital literacy activities, a large refrigerator, prep table for meals, bookcases, art supplies, and indoor/outdoor physical activity equipment for summer camp for underprivileged children ages 5-12.
Burlington Homes Incorporated – $10,000
Burlington Homes Connects
In addition to 3 desktop computers on each floor, funding will allow the organization to purchase digital blood pressure monitors and other accessories to aid in My Chart virtual doctor visits for residents.
Mayco Bigelow Community Center – $22,500
Celo Faucette Community Garden
Funding will be used to purchase tillers, soil, galvanized metal for raised beds, a fence, benches, and gravel for a pathway to meet accessibility requirements for a community garden. The garden will be located at North Park in East Burlington.
Positive Attitude Youth Center – $12,500
Digital Learning Center
After receiving funding, twenty-five laptops and headphones will be purchased to implement digital literacy programming for youth in the afterschool program.
Roots & Wings of Person County- $25,000
Roots & Wings Alamance Youth
Funding will allow the organization to purchase a van to transport teen participants to teen court and to organizations for service/restitution activities.
The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club – $16,000
Creating an Environment of Discovery
With funds, the Club will purchase wobble stools, sensory boards, light filters, speakers, white noise machines and interactive tablets. The Club wants to actively engage children in their learning environment to stimulate learning, curiosity, and vision.
