Parent Engagement Program

Helping Parents Lead, Advocate, and Connect

The Parent Engagement Program (PEP) is a six-month leadership academy designed to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to advocate for their children and strengthen engagement within Alamance County area schools. Through structured learning and peer connection, participants develop the skills to communicate effectively, understand school data, and engage meaningfully in school decision-making.

PEP is delivered through a partnership between Impact Alamance and Parents for Public Schools (PPS) and is grounded in a nationally recognized curriculum that supports meaningful parent engagement. The program promotes equitable participation of families in school leadership while building essential advocacy, communication, and data literacy skills that enable parents to lead with confidence and purpose.

By focusing on collaboration with Alamance County area schools, PEP strengthens family–school partnerships and prepares parents for leadership roles on School Improvement Teams, PTA boards, advisory councils, and community committees. Participants learn to engage in shared problem-solving, contribute to improved communication, and elevate parent voice—helping to create more inclusive, responsive, and effective school communities for all students.

Program Delivery Model

To support busy families, the Parent Engagement Program offers two cohort options. Parents and caregivers can choose the schedule that best fits their availability and learning style. All sessions are held at Impact Alamance, and meals are provided.

Day Cohort (Once Monthly)

The Day Cohort is ideal for parents who prefer a longer, more in-depth learning experience.

  • Meets once a month on Tuesdays

  • 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

  • Lunch provided

  • Location: Impact Alamance

  • Session format: Extended sessions allow time for meaningful discussion, reflection, and hands-on learning activities.

Evening Cohort (Twice Monthly)

The Evening Cohort is designed for parents who need a flexible, after-work option.

  • Meets twice a month on Thursdays

  • 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM

  • Dinner provided

  • Location: Impact Alamance

  • Session format: Shorter, faster-paced sessions that remain interactive, practical, and engaging.

Special Program Events

In addition to regular cohort sessions, participants will take part in special learning opportunities, including a school visit to connect learning with real-world school environments.

Program Dates & Attendance
