Secretary, Impact Alamance Board Director
North Carolina Native, Nicole Alston, serves on the Board of Directors for Impact Alamance in multiple facets, including Executive Committee member, Equity Committee member, and Strategic Communications Chair. She has over 20 years of dedicated professional experience related to dietary nutrition and science. Alston is currently the Nutrition Program Director for Alamance County. She oversees multiple programs and staff, reaching new heights in education and outreach initiatives through the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children and the Medical Nutrition Therapy Program.
Alston certainly does not miss a beat outside of her professional life. She has been a musician at Kimes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for over 16 years. Alston volunteers her time to serve on the Executive Committee for the Pi Omicron Omega Chapter Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., at NC A&T State University. Outside of her many professional and community activity involvements, her proudest accomplishment is being a mother to her four boys.

Vernetta Bridges is the current Equity Committee Chairperson. She is adaptable and resourceful after spending many years as an educator. After receiving her Master’s in Education Career & College Counseling from North Carolina Central University, Bridges spent years working in both college and public-school sectors. She retired as the Director of Student Support Services for Alamance Burlington School System.
Empathy, impartiality, and good communication are qualities that make her an excellent Equity Committee Chairperson for the Board. Bridges is a doting wife, mother, and grandmother. As a lover of literature, you can find her reading one of the many novels from her home library in her spare time.
Vice-Chair, Impact Alamance Board Director
Griffin McClure is committed to progress within the Foundation, serving on the Program, Equity, Governance and Grant Advisory Committees. McClure brings many years of professional expertise and education in Management and Society from UNC-Chapel Hill to his role on the Board. His dedication to his community is evident through his involvement with various community organizations, including serving on the City of Graham’s City Council, Board Chair of the ARMC Charitable Foundation, Board Chair of United Way of Alamance, and Vice-Chair of the Alamance Chamber, among many others.
He resides in Graham with his wife and two children, where he also carries on the legacy of operating a 115-year-old business that his great grandfather initially opened. One of McClure’s most significant contributions to community was organizing a campaign that raised over $50,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Dr. Yun Boylston is a pediatrician at Burlington Pediatrics/Mebane Pediatrics in North Carolina. As a physician partner, she champions innovative strategies and operational effectiveness to build and sustain a thriving independent practice. As a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard University in biochemical sciences, Dr. Boylston completed her medical degree and training at Baylor College of Medicine. She received her MBA from Duke University, concentrating in Health Sector Management. She is a 2020 Margolis Scholar at the Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy.
A leader across healthcare’s continuum of care, Dr. Boylston is a trustee for Cone Health System and board chair of Carolina Complete Health, a Centene (CNC) subsidiary. As a Board Director of the NC Pediatric Society, she was the inaugural recipient of the Society’s ‘Rising Star Early Career Physician Award.’ Dr. Boylston mentors future healthcare professionals as a lecturer and preceptor at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine and serves as an advisor for Duke University’s Health Sector Management program. Active in her business and alumni communities, she serves on the NC Banking Board of American National Bank & Trust (AMNB) and is a board director of the Harvard Alumni Association.

Leo Lambert is president emeritus of Elon University, where he served as president for more than 19 years. Under his leadership, two transformational, ten-year strategic plans for the university were completed. Currently, he is a professor in the Jo Watts Williams School of Education. He received his Ph.D. from Syracuse University, Master’s of Education from the University of Vermont, and B.A. from SUNY Geneseo; as well as two honorary doctorates of humane letters.
In addition to serving as an Impact Alamance Board Member, he is also dedicated to serving his community through active roles with the National and North Carolina Campus Compact, Council of Presidents, Project Pericles (Eugene M. Lang Foundation), American Council on Education, American Association of Colleges and Universities and the Association of Governing Boards. Lambert has lived in Burlington, N.C., for the past 24 years with his wife Laurie. They have two daughters and are also proud grandparents. Leo and Laurie enjoy spending their time with family by the water at their home on Smith Mountain Lake, VA.
Chair, Impact Alamance Board Director
F.D. Hornaday is a native of Alamance County and currently serves as the Chair of Impact Alamance Board of Directors. He is Chief Executive Officer of Knit-Wear Fabrics, Inc., where he has over 45 years of experience working in the textile industry in North Carolina. Hornaday has been an active member of his community for many years. He joined the Alamance Regional Medical Center Board of Directors in 1999 and became Chair of their Board of Directors in 2009. He worked closely with the merger with Cone Health in 2013 and was the Chair of Cone Health Board of Trustees from 2017-2021. Hornaday remains on the Cone Health Board of Trustees until October 2022.
For over 45 years, Hornaday has been an active member of the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club Advisory Council, serving in numerous positions. He is an active member of his church, Front Street United Methodist, and involved in several other local organizations.
Hornaday is a graduate of the UNC – Chapel Hill. His greatest accomplishment is being married to his wife, Mary Zeta. They have two sons, both UNC graduates, and five grandchildren.

Kathy Colville is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Health Studies at Elon University. She previously served as the President and CEO of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and the Publisher of the North Carolina Medical Journal, working to advance non-partisan, evidence-based health policy.
From 2014 to 2020, Kathy led the Healthy Communities department at Cone Health. In her role as director, she led teams that improved access to health care, affordable housing and healthy food for the most vulnerable members of Guilford, Forsyth, Rockingham, Alamance, Randolph, Caswell, and surrounding communities.
She serves on the UNC Greensboro Public Health Education Advisory Board, the Practice Advisory Committee of the UNC Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health, and as a board member for AuthoraCare Collective and the United Way of North Carolina.
Kathy has also served on the Alamance County Health Department Board, as well as the Boards of Directors of the Rockingham County Healthcare Alliance, the Central Carolina Health Network, the Alamance County Community YMCA, and Healthy Alamance.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in comparative literature from Brown University, master’s degrees in social work and public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Ph.D. in public administration at North Carolina State University.

Kimberly Romero is a 2018 first-generation graduate of Wake Forest University. She majored in Politics & International Affairs, as well as Spanish. Following her time there, Kimberly went on to be an elementary school teacher in Miami, Florida as part of Teach for America. In 2020, Kimberly returned to her hometown of Burlington, NC to shift her focus to higher education and college admissions.
Kimberly is currently the Director of Undergraduate Admissions for Diversity & Access at Elon University. Additionally, she serves as a member of the President’s Advisory Council for Inclusive Excellence, the Latinx/Hispanic Advisory Council, she co-chairs the Latinx/Hispanic Special Interest Group for the Southern Association for College Admissions Counseling, and she chairs the selection committee for one of Elon’s largest endowed scholarship programs, the Odyssey award. Kimberly also leads the Diversity Ambassadors program and serves as the admissions counselor for students from Texas and her home, Alamance County. Additionally, she is a 2024 LatinxEd Fellow, developing more strategies to support the Latinx education landscape across North Carolina.

Mandy Eaton serves as Chief Operating Officer for Cone Health. As Chief Operating Officer, she is the senior executive overseeing clinical, administrative, and support service operations. In partnership with the Chief Clinical Officer, she is responsible for providing health system leadership, strategic guidance, and operational direction for the continuum of care. Eaton joined Cone Health in 2013 as part of the integration with Alamance Regional Medical Center, where she served as vice president of human resources.
She earned a master’s degree in health care administration and a bachelor’s degree in public health from UNC – Chapel Hill. Eaton is a Ph.D. candidate at the North Carolina Agricultural &Technical State University pursuing a leadership studies degree and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. In addition to serving on the Impact Alamance Board, she also serves on the United Way Greater Greensboro Board of Directors. Eaton received the 2010 40 Leaders Under 40 Award for the Triad, the 2017 Outstanding Women in Business Award and was a member of Leadership Alamance, class of 2009.

Dr. Ashley Brandon is a physician at Burlington Urological Associates. Her driven and hardworking personality has helped her rebuild the urology program to include minimally invasive and robotic surgeries, along with other procedures, that were not offered previously. Dr. Brandon is committed to continuous learning and excellence. She serves as the surgery department chair at Alamance Regional and has participated in various leadership training programs, including the Physician Leadership Academy in Washington in 2021. Dr. Brandon also serves on the Cone Health Board of Trustees.
Dr. Brandon lives in Hillsborough, NC with her husband, son and twin girls. She stays busy balancing her career and family, but still manages to find time to run. Recently she has been dabbling in half marathons and is mildly addicted to her Peloton.
Treasurer, Impact Alamance Board Director
Thomas “Ted” Chandler is the President and CEO of Chandler Concrete Co., Inc. Chandler was born in Munich, Germany before his family moved to the United States. He is a proud graduate of Appalachian State University. Chandler was a board member of Alamance Regional Medical Center before joining Impact Alamance as a founding board member in 2014. Since joining the Foundation’s board, he has been active in the Executive committee and is the Chair of the Investment Committee.
Chandler has been involved in volunteer roles for over 20 organizations. Currently, he is serving on the Alamance County Economic Development Foundation and Appalachian State University’s Foundation as a board member. Chandler a husband to wife, Teresa, and father to their three children. He enjoys spending his free time with his family traveling as well as running and playing golf.

Edward Woodall is the Business Development Officer at FirstBank in Burlington. Woodall is known for building and fostering relationships with clients and community members. Since 2014, he has served in various roles on the Impact Alamance Board of Directors, including Program Committee Chair, Executive Committee member, Governance Committee member, and Investment Committee member. Woodall is committed to making Alamance County a better place to live and strives to exemplify tangible leadership for young people. In addition to serving on the Impact Alamance Board of Directors, Woodall also serves as the Youth Exchange Chair for the Triad region with Rotary International and coaches youth basketball and baseball.
Woodall earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He and wife Danielle reside in Mebane, NC with their three children.

Nikki Ratliff is a native of Alamance County. She received a B.A. in Political Science from UNC-Greensboro, a nonprofit management certificate from Duke University and has worked in the Human Services field since before her graduation. Ratliff is currently employed at Burlington Housing Authority/Burlington Development Corporation as the Program Services Director. Her work at the housing authority involves the management of the resident services and occupancy departments. Her previous work experience includes Elon Homes for Children where she was the campus admissions and case management coordinator and the Guilford County Department of Social Services where she worked as a foster care social worker.
Ratliff is the proud mother of 2 children, Christian and Ava. Her community contributions are abundant. She has chaired and served on numerous boards and volunteered her time at countless agencies. Ratliff has been recognized as one of Triad Business Journal’s Forty Leaders Under 40, received the Alamance County Women’s Resource Center’s Founder’s Award, and been named Alamance Chamber’s Director of the Year and Volunteer of the Year, among many other recognitions.

Albion Ida is a Commercial Relationship Manager with American National Bank & Trust Company and has over 7 years of banking experience. He received his B.S. from Guilford College where he played Varsity Soccer and was on the ODAC All Academic Team. He has completed the RMA Commercial School of Lending and the North Carolina School of Banking. He has also graduated from Alamance Chamber’s Leadership Alamance program and American National Bank’s leadership programs. Ida is a member of the Graham Rotary Club board, and currently serves as Membership Chair.

Pete Stearns is the Lead Pastor of St. Mark’s Community Church in Burlington North Carolina. St. Mark’s is a church with deep roots and rich history in Alamance County and has been a fixture in the community for over 160 years.
In 2021 Pete and his family moved to Alamance County from the Chicago area where he served as a pastor at Christ Church for 14 years. Pete did his undergraduate and graduate work at Wheaton College. While in Illinois Pete gained an appreciation for how investment in the local community could enhance the opportunities afforded to families and children.
In his short time in Alamance County Pete has been an advocate of the Public School system, serving as a member of the Strategic Plan Committee as well as supporting St. Mark’s ongoing passion to provide school supplies and tutoring to those with need.
Pete is married to Brittany Stearns and they have three young sons together. They spend much of their time exploring the wonderful opportunities afforded by Alamance County. They love walking through the downtown areas and supporting local businesses and regularly spend their Saturdays in local parks hiking, playing on playgrounds or cheering on their boys as they participate in Rec baseball, basketball and soccer.
